AI powered Toolbar for writing and translating

विवरण

AI powered Toolbar for writing and translating adds practical AI actions to WordPress text fields, supported editor blocks, SEO fields, forms, and media details.

The toolbar appears when you focus a compatible field and provides up to five configurable functions:

  • Write content from your input
  • Generate content from available page context
  • Improve spelling, grammar, and clarity without changing the meaning
  • Format and structure rich text
  • Translate content into selected languages

You decide which functions appear in the toolbar and whether the fully rounded toolbar is horizontal or vertical. It can be moved, collapsed when it is in the way, and remembers an exact anchored position and visibility in the current browser. Use the Info icon or the settings screen to replay the guided tour.

The plugin uses your own OpenAI API key. You can choose between current OpenAI models, customize the writing instructions, select translation languages, choose one selected language as the standard output language, and add reusable terminology or brand guidance through the Knowledge Base. The WordPress site language is used initially when it is available; your explicit standard-language choice then controls writing, generation, SEO, excerpt, and media output.

Existing settings from earlier Planet 9 releases remain compatible. Planet 9 is retained only as the plugin author; the plugin interface itself is function-focused.

Editor compatibility

The toolbar works with supported standard and Advanced Custom Fields text inputs, TinyMCE-based editors, core Block Editor text blocks, Yoast focus-keyphrase and meta-description fields, WordPress media details, and Contact Form 7 messages. It also detects compatible fields in same-origin editor frames used by supported page builders. Browser security prevents a parent page from accessing cross-origin editor frames.

For media images, the toolbar can analyze the selected image together with its filename, existing attachment metadata, attached page, up to three locally matched published posts or pages, current editing context, and matching Knowledge Base guidance. This lightweight context lookup stays inside WordPress and does not scrape external websites.

External Services

This plugin connects to OpenAI’s Responses API when a user deliberately activates a toolbar function.

Depending on the action, the request can include the active field content and label, relevant text from the current editing screen, the website name and description, matching Knowledge Base guidance, the configured standard language or selected translation target, and the configured writing instructions. For an image-media field, the request also includes a validated URL for the selected WordPress image, its filename and saved metadata, its attached-page context, and excerpts from up to three locally matched published posts or pages. OpenAI handles this image data together with the supplied textual context.

No request is made until a user selects a toolbar action. The plugin does not operate its own external tracking or content-storage service.

प्रश्नोत्तर

Which OpenAI model should I choose?

GPT-5.6 Luna is the default because it is optimized for cost-sensitive, high-volume work. Terra offers a stronger quality/cost balance, while Sol is intended for quality-first work.

Does the plugin change my content automatically?

No. Content is sent only when you deliberately select a toolbar action. The result replaces the active field only after the request succeeds.

Can I hide the toolbar?

Yes. Use the eye button or press Command/Ctrl + Shift + 9 to collapse it. Use the same shortcut or click the compact AI button to show it again. The state and exact anchored position are remembered in your browser.

Why did generated text use my WordPress site language?

Writing and generation now use the standard language selected under AI Toolbar Translation languages. On first use, the plugin prefers the WordPress site language when that language is selected. Translation continues to use the target chosen directly in the toolbar.

Where is my API key stored?

The API key is stored as an option in your WordPress database. It is sent to OpenAI in the Authorization header only when you use a toolbar action. Protect your WordPress database and restrict administrator access.

Does it work with Gutenberg?

Yes, for supported core text blocks such as paragraphs, headings, lists, quotes, preformatted text, verses, and buttons. The plugin updates block attributes through WordPress’ editor data API so edits remain part of the post.

Planet 9 adds powerful AI features in a very simple and user-friendly way. I’ve been using both the copywriter (Teller) and the translator (Linus), and they work exceptionally well. One of my favorite features is the knowledge base. It allows you to provide specific guidance to the AI without needing to repeat prompts each time. Although the plugin is still in Beta and there’s still room for improvement, it already delivers on its promises. I’m excited to see how it evolves and will definitely keep using it in my projects. Highly recommended!

Planet9 runs smoothly, adds a convenient AI toolbar to text fields, and makes writing or translating content super easy. You’ll need an OpenAI API key, but after that it’s plug-and-play. No fuss, no tracking, just a smart assistant that saves you time. Highly recommended!

Feels like it was made with real WordPress users in mind. I mostly use Linus, the translation agent, and it works exactly as expected — fast, accurate, and easy to use. The whole plugin is lightweight, intuitive, and genuinely helpful. There are still a few minor UX improvements to be made, but since the plugin is still in Beta, I expect these will be refined quickly.
